Bioscience

I graduated from LYIT in 2015 with an honours degree in Bioanalytical science. Furthering my degree, I directly undertook a funded PhD at Ulster University focusing on diabetes research, whilst also having opportunities to progress into industry.

The modules I undertook at LYIT consisted of extensive hands-on practical experience, small class sizes and high quality lecturing. Accompanied with engaging and approachable lecturing staff, this provided me with essential knowledge and experience to progress in my desired field.

My four years at LYIT were highly rewarding and I would strongly encourage anyone with an interest in biomedical science to enrol at LYIT. You will acquire a comprehensive qualification with excellent career opportunities in various areas of biomedical science.

The Bioscience and Bioanalytical Science courses in LYIT gave me a solid foundation from which to pursue my Professional Master of Education qualification. The small class sizes and hands on experience I gained during my time in LYIT has been invaluable in my career to date. The lecturers were always willing to take time to answer any questions people had which made it easier to manage the workload. The facilities at LYIT are very impressive, especially the cell culture lab which allowed us to develop our cleanroom technique. The fact that the lecturers have worked in industry meant they were able to share real life experiences of working in the science industry. I would encourage anyone considering a career in science to make LYIT your number one choice. I’m currently a full-time science teacher in a secondary school in Surrey in the UK
