Erasmus+ Students

ERASMUS+ is part of EU's new programme for boosting skills and employability through education, training, youth, and sport. ERASMUS+ contains a wide range of measures designed to support the European activities of higher education institutions and to promote the mobility and exchange of their teaching staff and students.

ATU Donegal has been an active participant in the Erasmus programme since its inception in 1987. This programme allows ATU Donegal students to study or train in another EU state. Students opting for a study visit spend a semester or full academic year at a partner institution in the EU. The time spent in the host institution is fully recognized by ATU Donegal through the use of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS). ATU Donegal currently has over 40 partner higher education institutions in 16 countries.

Students participating in the Erasmus+ programme not only gain invaluable academic and/or work training experience, but also have the opportunity to experience life in another country, develop language and intercultural skills, travel and broaden their horizons.

The ATU Donegal International Student Office is responsible for co-ordinating the Erasmus programme. Incoming Erasmus student should check ATU Donegal’s Erasmus+ partner list and if your university is listed please contact your home university Erasmus Office or contact Peter at peter.dobson@atu.ie for more details. As classes are delivered through English, it is imperative that students have a B1 level according to the common European framework of reference for languages. Letterkenny Institute of Technology has signed over 40 bilateral agreements with partner Institutions throughout Europe. Please see Erasmus Charter here.
