The Institute has a comprehensive wireless network with full coverage of both Letterkenny and Killybegs campuses.
The wireless network will support any 802.11 a/b/g/n wireless adapters. The wireless networks available to students is eduroam.
eduroam (education roaming) is the secure, world-wide roaming access service developed for the international research and education community. It's used to describe an authenticated access network available in LYIT and colleges worldwide. This service also provides extended Wi-Fi access for visiting participants of eduroam to LYIT from other colleges. For further information on eduroam services in Ireland, click here.
Registered students of LYIT can accessed any eduroam Wi-Fi network across the world.
Connecting to eduroam
Apple IOS, OS X and Microsoft Windows 10, 8 & 8.1 devices will connect seamless to the eduroam Wi-Fi by entering your username and password. Android and Windows 7 devices require some parameters to be set first, check out the instructional guide below on how to do this on Windows 7 and Android devices.
Your username will take the following format: studentID@lyitnet.lyit.ie
It is important to add “@lyitnet.lyit.ie” to your username e.g. L00123456@lyitnet.lyit.ie
