Key areas of study include physiology, resistance training, psychology and nutrition, with a focus on practical application of strength and conditioning. The programme allows for exit awards in year one (Certificate in Personal Training – REP’s Ireland accredited) and year two (Higher Certificate in Strength and Conditioning). Year 3 includes work placement in an industry specific environment and year four includes the Weightlifting Ireland level 1 certification and a research project. All modules have been aligned with the National Strength and Conditioning Associations (NSCA) Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist ® (CSCS®) accreditation
Ireland’s National Sports Policy 2018 – 2027 identifies the importance of performance and high-performance achievement in sport and securing international success as part of its ambition. This degree is a response to this policy and to the practical needs of the performance and high-performance coaching workforce.
