This course is designed for those who wish to work as professional construction managers in the construction industry. The academic qualification from this Honours degree programme will enable graduates to commence the process of becoming a Chartered Construction Manager.

Having returned from working in London, I decided to attend LYIT to complete a BSc in Digital Construction*. I felt this was an ideal course for me to update my previous qualifications as an Architectural Technician. I would highly recommend this course to others as it gives student numerous opportunities in the construction industry. The course covered various aspects from Passive House Design to Digital Surveying to Building Information Modelling (BIM) and much more.

As part of the course at the end of the year we had to complete four weeks work experience. From this, I have now gained a part time job in an Architectural firm in Letterkenny. I know if it wasn’t for completing this course in LYIT, I would probably still be looking for work.

* This course has now incorporated into (year 3 of) LY528 Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Construction Management.

The BSc (Hons) in Construction Management is a very interesting, informative course with a broad spectrum of relevant modules. For anyone not sure which direction to pursue in a career in construction, this course will definitely help.

The course is aimed towards a career in Site/Project/Contracts management. It can also open doors towards a Masters in Project Management at Queens University. I felt the year flew due to the interesting assignments and lecturers with great experience in the construction sector.

This degree definitely boosted my CV and I now work as Contracts Manager. The relevance of this course is evident in my everyday use of Microsoft Project, Excel as well as general dispute resolution / avoidance and general Construction Site Management.
