*‘Free' Fee Students

  1. 'Free' fee students who register and officially withdraw before 1 November are liable for payment of 15% of the Student Contribution Charge. LYIT will not claim tuition fees from the HEA (Higher Education Authority) for students who withdraw before this date. Therefore, a student may then qualify for ‘free’ fees if they subsequently register in any Irish third level institution in a future academic year.
  2. 'Free' fee students who register and officially withdraw between 1 November and 31 January inclusive are liable for payment of half the Student Contribution Charge. Furthermore, half of the tuition fee will be claimed on the student’s behalf from the HEA by LYIT. A student will then be liable to pay half the tuition fee for the equivalent period of attendance if they register within the next 5 years in any Irish third level institution.
  3. 'Free' fee students who register and officially withdraw after 31 January are liable for full payment of the Student Contribution Charge.  Furthermore, the full tuition fee will be claimed on the student’s behalf from the HEA by LYIT. A student will have to pay full fees for the equivalent period of attendance if they register within the next 5 years in any Irish third level institution.
