Sanctuary Scholarship

The objective of the Sanctuary Scholarship scheme is to encourage and enable international protection applicants, or those already granted international protection who are required to pay tuition fees and/or cannot access student finance, to participate and succeed in higher education.

  1. Applicants will be required to submit the online application form.
  2. Applicants will be required to submit proof of
    • Original letter from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform declaring that the person is a Refugee under Section 17 of the Refugee Act, 1996. OR
    • Original letter from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform confirming the family member status of the refugee under Section 18 of the Refugee Act, 1996. OR
    • Original letter from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform stating that the person has Humanitarian Leave to Remain in the State, or Permission to Remain in the State following a determination not to make a deportation order. OR
    • Letter from the Officer of the Promotion of Migrant Integration confirming Programme Refugee Status
  3. Closing date for applications is 1 July 2023. Applications will not be permitted after the closing date.
