ATU Donegal Students Awarded Digital Badges from the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning

On Friday 27 May, 18 Student Ambassadors at ATU Donegal received Digital Badges from the National Forum for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning for their volunteer work at ATU Donegal.

The students awarded digital badges had contributed a minimum of 25 hours voluntary time to student life at ATU Donegal. These students contribute significantly to student life on campus and during the ceremony Dr. Orla Flynn, ATU President thanked the students for their significant contribution to campus life during their time at ATU Donegal.

Paul Hannigan, Head of College ATU Donegal, addressed the audience in attendance, he commented. “Digital badges were introduced at ATU Donegal in 2017. ATU Donegal was the first Higher Education institution in Ireland to introduce digital badges for student volunteers. Since the inception of the digital badge programme, more than 100 students have received these awards at ATU Donegal. The students receiving awards come from a diverse range of programmes, however, enhancing the student experience for incoming and current students is a central focus of all the ambassadors.

The ambassador awards recognise and reward the outstanding contribution made through student engagement. During the event digital badges were awarded to International Student Ambassadors and the campus-based Student Ambassador team.

· Eimear Doogan, Bronzer Award Winner (25+hours volunteering contribution)

· Esther Asamago, Bronze Award Winner (25+hours volunteering contribution)

· Jerry Drumm, Bronze Award Winner (25+hours volunteering contribution)

· Robin Turner, Bronze Award Winner (25+hours volunteering contribution)

· Jia Min Tan, Bronze Award Winner (25+hours volunteering contribution)

· David McDonagh, Bronze Award Winner (25+hours volunteering contribution)

· Niamh Moohan, Bronze Award Winner (25+hours volunteering contribution)

· Laura Matthews, Gold Award Winner (100+hours volunteering contribution)

· Martin Acheampong Benchi, Silver Award Winner (50+hours volunteering contribution)

· Saurabh Batra, Silver Award Winner (50+hours volunteering contribution)

· Doris Ewomazino, Gold Award Winner (100+hours volunteering contribution)

· Anderson Teo Min Hong, Gold Award Winner (100+hours volunteering contribution)

· Joey Lim Loo Yi, Gold Award Winner (100+hours volunteering contribution)

· Gene Tuliao, Gold Award Winner (100+hours volunteering contribution)

· Ansh Mahajan, Gold Award Winner (100+hours volunteering contribution)

· Vignesh Jagadeeswaran, Gold Award Winner (100+hours volunteering contribution)

 

Guest speaker at the event was Larissa Feeney, CEO AccountantOnline, Larissa commended the award winners and highlighted the importance of “seizing every opportunity that comes your way.”

At the event, Fiona Kelly, Marketing Manager ATU Donegal and Jill Murphy, International Education Manager ATU Donegal acknowledged the positive spirit and incredible passion shown by all the ambassadors across the academic year.
