ATU Donegal’s Department of Business Studies offers four business courses on the CAO. Each of these programmes, and their modules, have been updated over the last few months in line with changes in industry and to meet the needs of employers in the region. It’s very important to the Department of Business Studies at ATU Donegal that the programmes developed at ATU Donegal are developed with industry in mind. New modules in areas like UX and design thinking, digital media, data analytics and intrapreneurship are featured in the updated business programmes. Optional one-year work placement opportunities have been added to three out of four of the departments programmes.
The Department of Business Studies offers one level 7 degree and three level 8 honours degree programmes. Each of these level 8 programmes now offer an optional one-year work placement which provides learners with incredible opportunities to link directly with industry during their course of study. These optional one-year placements can be taken in year 3 of the degree programmes. The academic staff in the department will support students to secure a work placement opportunity.
Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting- CAO Code: LY108
The Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Accounting is ideal for those who would like to work in areas such as accounting, banking, taxation or financial services. ATU Donegal's accounting courses attract generous exemptions from the examinations of professional accountancy bodies including ICA, ACCA, CPA and CIMA. This three-year programme provides graduates with the necessary skills to reach the very top of their profession. The Bachelor of Business (Hons) allows graduates to position themselves for a diverse range of careers including human resource management, marketing, management, and entrepreneurship. In first year of the programme, students will cover modules such as economics, business law and business management and by year three of the programme students will cover modules such as strategic management, international marketing, digital business and customer experience management. Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Marketing with Online Technologies – CAO Code: LY128
The Bachelor of Business (Hons) in Marketing with Online Technologies is the latest honours degree programme available from the Department of Business Studies. Ideal for budding marketers, this course addresses the impact of digital technologies on the way businesses and organisations market to the consumers. In first year of the programme, learners will cover the fundamentals of marketing and by year three of the programme students will cover modules including brand engagement marketing, applied marketing management, global marketing and strategic management. Bachelor of Business Common Entry - CAO Code: LY107
The Level 7 Bachelor of Business (Common Entry) degree is ideal for those interested in Business who want to explore Management, Marketing or Accounting, but aren’t quite sure which specialism to take. In the first two years of the programme, learners will undertake modules in each of these areas and in year three of degree programme students select a specialism. Students on the programme can then progress to year 4 of their specialism and gain a level 8 honours degree.
