The Virtual Career Awareness Day is for students who are busy making important decisions on their next career / course moves and who want to ensure that they are presenting themselves in the best way possible.
They will have the opportunity to hear from experts including HR, PR and academics who will impart valuable tips and insights into the job-hunting process.
Those who are looking to pursue postgraduate studies will learn how to choose the most suitable course and will know how to craft a personal statement that will impress course selectors.

10.30-11.20am Top Tips for Interview Success Presented by Anne O’Neill, Head of HR, Alchemy, Derry, this presentation will give an insight into how job applicants can effectively prepare for interviews. Attendees will also be given an overview of the typical questions asked at interviews. As video interviewing is now the preferred method by recruiters, Anne will impart some valuable tips on how to ace video interviews.
11.30-12.20pm Job Hunting in a Pandemic Presented by Sinéad English, Careers Management Specialist, Hilt, this presentation will give you a clearer understanding of what's happening in the job market right now, and how to adjust your Job- Hunting strategy in a Pandemic.
12.30-1.20pm Using LinkedIn in your Job Search Presented by Emma Boylan, Outside the Box Communications, this presentation will offer top tips on setting up a LinkedIn profile, words to use and avoid and advice on how to get your profile noticed by recruiters.
2.30-3.3.20pm Successful Written Job Applications Presented by Alan Fletcher, HR Specialist, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), this presentation will give an overview on what recruiters look for in written applications (CVs, cover letters and online applications) and the common mistakes to avoid.
3.30-4.20pm Applying to Postgraduate Course Presented by Catherine Lyster, Careers Officer, this seminar is a must for anybody considering postgraduate studies. Attendees will discover how to effectively research postgraduate opportunities at home and abroad, be aware of key questions to ask of department heads and learn how to craft a winning personal statement.
