With an increased emphases on teaching computing in schools, there is increasing demand for teachers to introduce coding as part of the curriculum. This 10 credit special purpose level-8 award is designed to assist teachers in developing their knowledge of computer programming concepts.

Specifically the objectives of the course are: (i) to equip learners with the skills necessary to begin implementing coding within their professional context. (ii) Give leaners insight into the discipline of computer programming. (iii) Raise an awareness of the technical requirements necessary to engage meaningfully with code in the classroom.
No prior programming knowledge is required. We are assuming little or no knowledge of programming. The emphasis will be on learning about concepts rather than syntax.
