This specialised module covers all of the current evidence based, best practice in Alcohol & Other Drugs (AOD) from an integrated, holistic framework.
This module aims to provide students with crucial analysis of the impact of problem parental alcohol and other drug use on child and family functioning underpinned by policy and legislation that guides our work. It will explore the impact of problem parental alcohol and other drug use from conception across the life span of the child with emphasis on Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorders (FASD). Students will examine the choice of intervention skills and tools utilised in the context of intervention for families impacted by alcohol and other drug use and become familiar with the new national direction for best practice in this area.
