Increase in CAO Applications to LYIT

LYIT figures up by 11% overall, significant increase for Honours Degree courses.

LYIT has released the latest CAO figures which show that the numbers of people applying to the college are up by 11% on 2009 figures.  Significantly, there has been a rise in demand for the Honours Degree courses, up by 14% on last year.

Whilst most applicants are from Donegal there has also been an increase in the geographical spread of entries from other counties.  LYIT continues to attract mature students and those who wish to retrain. "Whilst these figures reflect the overall trend to pursue education, we are also pleased to see a rise in applications for our recently introduced Honours Degree courses.  We will continue to offer courses which can lead to employment in emerging industries such as the recently introduced Wind Energy Technician course.  Our focus will remain on offering high standard of courses linked to industry demands,” commented Paul Hannigan, President, LYIT.
