Innovation Voucher Success for LYIT & ChipSensors

LYIT has strong links with ChipSensors which has been acquired in a reported €10m deal.

ChipSensorsChipSensors, an Irish technology company developing innovative silicon chip sensors to detect temperature, humidity and gases, has been acquired by Silicon Laboratories Inc of Austin, Texas in a reported €10 million deal.

ChipSensors has strong links with LYIT including assistance with the development of a microcontroller gas sensor evaluation board which was provided by Martin Bradley of the Electronics Department under an Enterprise Ireland Innovation Voucher programme.

“The rapid prototype milled PCB facility at LYIT and the expertise in Embedded Systems enabled ChipSensors to very quickly demonstrate our technology to potential customers and investors,” said Ray Speer, co-founder of ChipSensors and who now heads up the gas sensor development program for Silicon Labs.

“Joining forces with Silicon Labs provides us with an exceptional opportunity to both collaborate with a team that has a reputation for the highest calibre engineering and potentially grow the design team in Ireland to take advantage of the strong local technical talent,” said Tim Cummins, CEO and founder of ChipSensors.
