    N.B. Garda Vetting
    This programme may bring students into contact with vulnerable adults or children, therefore Garda Vetting is required. Applicants will be unable to go on placement or complete the course requirements until vetting is satisfactorily completed. Registration is temporary until such time as vetting is satisfactorily completed.
    Please note, for this and any programme for which garda vetting is a requirement, non EU candidates will only be considered if there are still places remaining after all EU candidates have first be considered.

    Learning Outcomes
    On completion of this programme the student will be able to:
    • Apply scientific and pedagogical knowledge across a range of scientific, sociological, pedagogical and applied fields of sport and exercise
    • Assess participant readiness, apply scientific principles, prescribe and design schedules and evaluate the effectiveness of sport and exercise programming
    • Demonstrate the discipline-specific knowledge and skills required  for sport and exercise sectors
    • Think critically and creatively in formulating solutions to abstract problems
    • Describe the skills required to work within the sport and exercise sector and the ability to apply these skills in a professional setting
    • Plan, organise, communicate, and work effectively as part of a group, and independently, within the sport and exercise sector
    • Take personal responsibility for their learning within both individual and group environments relating to the sport and exercise sector
    • Consider how the application of sport and exercise knowledge and skills acquired may influence the quality of life of others
    Are there follow-up Programmes Available?
    Students may progress onto Year 3 of the BSc in Sport and Exercise with Performance/Physical Education on completion of a bridging module.
    Career Opportunities
    Careers in the sports, leisure and fitness sectors. Graduates from this programme may work in both the commercial and not for profit sectors assisting in programming and the delivery of sports training.
