Programme Title Bachelor of Science in Architectural Technology CAO Code LY547 LYIT internal code LY_CARCH_D Duration 3 Years ab initio Standard Code Places: 30 National Framework Level 7 Award Type Major Awarding Body LYIT, under Delegated Authority from HETAC - Is this Programme for Me?
- Ireland's construction boom has led to a greater appreciation of the role of the Architectural Technologist for a variety of reasons; there have been significant changes in the standards and techniques used in modern construction; the vast bulk of architectural drawings are produced using computer aided design; building legislation has been enacted to ensure the protection of the environment and the public have become more discerning in their appreciation of architecture. Architectural education is at a point of change. Architects are still primarily designers but their relationships with the other architectural professions have become more intricate with an increasing complexity of building and design technologies.
- The aim of this Programme is to produce graduates capable of demonstrating an in-depth knowledge and a range of high level skills and competencies necessary for employment as architectural technologists.
- Minimum Academic Entry Requirements
- The basic entry requirement for admission to all Level 7 engineering programmes (Semester 1) is a pass (OD3 or better) in five Leaving Certificate subjects, including passes in Mathematics and in either Irish or English (or an equivalent qualification). Foundation/Alternative Maths is not acceptable.
