The Institute has produced stand-alone financial statements since 1993 when it became an autonomous body following the passing of the RTC Act. The overall remit of the Finance section is to plan, organise, control, manage and co-ordinate the efficient operation of the finance function of the Institute. This includes ensuring that the Institute achieves value for money in the procurement and use of its resources.

The Finance section provides a range of services including:
- Payroll processing
- Manages the purchasing function of the Institute
- Invoices customers of the Institute
- Monitors compliance with relevant legislation
- Safeguarding the fixed assets of the Institute
- Provides financial reports to internal and external stakeholders
- Involved in the payment of student grants
The Finance section is located in Room 1159 of the Phase 2B building. This space is divided into a staff area, a manager’s office, a photocopying and file room and an auditors/consultation room with storage area.
